ARE WE REALLY INDEPENDENT ?

ARE WE REALLY INDEPENDENT?

WHAT KIND OF FREEDOM YOU DESIRE FOR?

No matter how luxurious or fascinating your life is but, you cannot gain the utmost happiness of living if you are not free. You cannot realize the pleasure of life if you’re bound to any restrictions or being ruled by someone. Freedom or independence is really important for a person. It is the power to be able to stand on its own, to make your own choices and to do what is right to you or to secure yourself.  The importance of independence is huge in the life of an individual but, when it comes to a nation it’s even bigger.
India, an independent and democratic country, has a huge population with diverse culture and tradition is known to be a colorful nation. And now that we have completed about 71 years of independence and have claimed our sovereignty from the foreign rule, we surely are very proud of our free nation which entitles us to various powerful rights which give us freedom, since India is the largest democracy in the world!
But are we really free?  Do we truly have freedom of living in a dignified manner? Is independence is just being entitled to the rights?
Yes, if freedom to you means not being ruled or slaved by a foreign country, then surely we are a free nation. But are not we surrounded by corruption, inequality, rapes, female feticide, terrorism, dirty politics, crimes and what not? Is this the freedom for which our nation fought for?
We, as a citizen of India, are being honored with tones of rights which our constitutions provides us say the right to freedom, right to equality, right to education and culture, right against exploitation and etc. which as stated in the constitution is equal to everyone.
But are we really able to exercise them? Are they really equally applicable?
Do you think in today’s scenario we are liberal enough to express ourselves when people are getting mob lynched for doing so, are women equal enough to stand on her own feet when they are not even allowed to be born, are we free enough to speak about the corruption without worrying about that powerful politician and what about rapes? What about poverty? And injustice?
We call ourselves a free individual of a free nation, but we don’t have the freedom to choose what to wear, what to eat, what faith to believe and not even whom we love and want to spend our lives with.
No matter how glorified our nation become from the outer shell but it requires to grow from within.

The roots are what nourishes the fruit. And for our nation to flourish, equal rights should not only be stated but practiced!
